SGL Carbon Banting nominated Spin in 2016 as the main contractor to reprogram and commission one of the core process in their entire factor, the Green Plant.

The existing less productive with high breakdown frequency plant is not producing in full capacity. Spin’s involvement is to automate and reprogram the system to achieve a high output plant as how it was designed to be.

Some of the key responsibilities as part of the scope of works included:

• Re-programming and configuration of SCADA
• Re-programming of PLC
• Configuration and commissioning of field instrument
• Provision training

A few of the project’s important highlights were:

• In a short window of intense commissioning pressure, 0 safety incident was reported
• Management of > 2,000 I/O
• In just 2 weeks shutdown, first phase of programming was introduced into the system with no startup production interruption

With less than 2 months of uninterrupted production commissioning, plant has been fully migrated to the new program and is reproducing in full capacity by achieving 100 tonnage per shift as per target.
