Sohar (Oman)
Sacyr, via its subsidiary for management of the integral water cycle, Valoriza Agua, got awarded the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 1,200 million dollars seawater desalination plant in Sohar.
Oman is located in an arid region with limited ground water resources and to meet the growing demand for potable water, large and small brackish and seawater desalination units have been installed in different parts of the country. This desalination plant with reverse osmosis technology will have a capacity of 55 MIGD (250,000 m3/day) which is one of the largest investments in desalination of seawater in Oman. The plant will begin operation at the end of 2019.
SPIN, thanks to its proven track record of successfully delivering control systems solutions for water infrastructure projects, was selected as the preferred contractor for the Control System Integration package.
The Control system is based on the Siemens DCS PCS7, with high availability controllers and redundant Profibus-DP networks.
